Extra bobbin lace workshop provided at Walsall Museum
Date Published : 25 August 2010
Due to popular demand an extra session of the bobbin lace making workshop has been provided at Walsall Museum on the morning of Thursday 2 September.
The existing afternoon session has sold out but there are still places left on the morning session from 10.30am-12pm.
The workshop is aimed at adults and participants will learn how to make fine bobbin lace using traditional techniques. The workshop is lead by experienced lace tutor Meg Lawrence, and at the end of the session participants will have their own piece of lace to take home with them.
The workshop costs 75p per person and advance booking is essential as places are limited, please call Walsall Museum on 01922 653116 or email museum@walsall.gov.uk.
The workshop is one of a number of special activities taking place to accompany Walsall Museum’s current exhibition of contemporary lacemaking from the Lace Guild. If you don’t fancy having a go yourself but would still like to learn how lace is made, you can pop along to one of the free demonstrations taking place every Saturday from 10.30am-12.30pm and 2-4pm until the close of the exhibition on 25 September 2010.
