Community groups host information day in town centre
Date Published : 02 September 2010
Walsall's community groups will be taking centre stage this Saturday (4 September) to showcase the host of opportunities they offer residents of all ages from belly dancing to adult education.
Representatives of numerous community organisations will be in Park Street between 10am and 4pm promoting the wide range of courses, activities and events they run.
It has been organised by Walsall Council's community development team in partnership with Walsall Federation of Community Organisations.
Councillor Zahid Ali, cabinet member for communities and partnerships, said: "This event will bring together in one place loads of information for people interested in furthering their education or taking up a new hobby.
"There really is something for everyone and I would urge families to come along on the day and find out more as well as enjoying the various fun activities which will also be laid on for them."
Visitors will be able to collect information to take away and jump on board the MOVE project. The MOVE project is a purpose built truck complete with basketball net, rope wall, Wii fit and music mixing decks.
During the day there will also be a free raffle and prizes, badge making for children and the chance to meet the Disney character Shrek.
