Community Development

The Community Development team is part of the Neighbourhood Partnership and Programmes service area which comes under the umbrella of the Neighbourhoods Directorate. The team is closely linked with Walsall Partnership.

The Community Development team are committed to working in innovative and effective partnerships across the borough, by the provision of community capacity building initiatives in line with the council's ‘vision’ priorities.

We aim to raise aspirations and achievements by enabling a wide range of educational, sporting, recreational and cultural opportunities within and beyond the school environments, thereby enhancing and improving the standards and quality of life of all those who live, learn, visit and work in Walsall.

Our objective is to empower citizens, improve health, through learning within inclusive and diverse communities.

Our key priorities are:

  • building active and sustainable communities;
  • raising aspirations and achievements by enhancing and improving the standards and quality of life of all those who live in Walsall;
  • supporting individuals, groups and organisations; and
  • removing the barriers that prevent people from participating in the issues that affect their lives.
